DESCRIPTION

Bullfrogs provide a better dissection experience than grass frogs because of larger body mass, better-defined organs, and well-developed muscle structure. This huge preserved bullfrog specimen in double injected and has a body length of 6"-7". Arteries in the frog's arterial system are injected with red latex and veins are injected with blue latex to easily trace the vascular system. This makes the internal organs and muscles easy to locate and identify when dissecting. The bullfrog species is typically Rana catesbeiana.

Whether in a middle school, high school, or college biology lab, frog dissections give students memorable life science experiences and are wonderful first-time dissection specimens. Dissecting a large preserved bullfrog is a great hands-on activity for teaching biology and environmental science in the home and science classroom.

Find dissecting pans, scalpels, pins, and other essential dissecting tools to begin your hands-on exploration of a bullfrog's anatomy!

10+ pricing is based on bulk-packed specimens. When necessary, you will receive a combination of 10-packs and individually packed specimens to fill your order.

Note: Specimens are initially preserved with a formaldehyde solution, the best animal tissue fixative. The formaldehyde is then displaced first with water and finally with a glycol solution to produce a moist, low-fume specimen which will not decay over time.

HST Specimen Guarantee

In sealed, original packaging, our preserved specimens are guaranteed to remain fully preserved and free of decay for six months from the date of purchase.

Once the original package is opened, use specimen within one month. For best results, observe the following storage procedures:

  • Store specimen in heavy-duty, zip-lock bags to minimize drying between dissections.
  • Specimen will slowly dry out or become contaminated in zip-lock bags; add a teaspoon of Specimen Holding Fluid to retain moisture.
  • Freezing or refrigeration is not necessary and may damage fragile tissues.
