Great for a classroom or group setting, this 10 pack of algae beads contains 10 tubes - each containing 5 - 8 "beads". These beads are algae encapsulated in a polymer matrix, making them a great way to explore algae (marine photosynthetic organisms) without having to deal with algae growth and maintenance.

What's more, the algae beads are suspended in a pH-sensitive solution, so that the color of the solution changes based on whether or not the algae are undergoing photosynthesis or respiration

There are so many ways to use these algae beads, including:

  1. To determine how the intensity of solar radiation (light) impacts the amount of photosynthesis;
  2. To explore what colors of light maximize photosynthesis; and 
  3. To study the carbon cycle and the role of algae (and other plants) in CO2 utilization
